On leaving Tembe we drove along the coastal road, passing Kosi Bay. This is right on the Mozambique border. We then we turned inland, crossed through Jozini and passing over the dam wall. This is a beautiful dam, with Swaziland on the opposite side to us. We were amazed to see the beautiful Tiger Lodge. A 5 star establishment built high up on the banks of the Jozini Lake. A very well appointed lodge built for the Soccer World Cup in 2010 and it is well worth a visit. On offer many forms of watersports, including tiger fishing. They pride themselves on having the biggest tiger fish ever caught in the lake.
Onto Shaya Manzi, overlooking the Jozini Lake. One of the most important reasons for visiting Shaya Manzi was to do a game drive from a boat. The sightings were awesome! Given that we were on the water 2-hours in all, we saw a herd of buffaloes at a distance. We also had our fill of crocodile and hippo. Best of all, we really enjoyed the a group of young White Rhino’s jousting on the water’s edge. Completely oblivious to our presence. We eventually left when the light started to fail our cameras. This lodge is very well appointed with great rooms and outdoor showers. The meals were terrific! We really enjoyed breakfast overlooking the Pongola Reserve and the Jozini Dam. For an overnight stay, a lot of fun!
