A safari is a journey of body and soul, an opportunity to get closer to the wonders and mysteries of nature…
We believe in the magic of the bush and strive to offer you that ‘once in a lifetime experience’. Each Walking Safari begins with a comprehensive demonstration on how to behave when encountering animals. Your qualified ranger has extensive training in approaching dangerous wildlife and has a wealth of information about the bush. The chance to walk amongst wildlife allows you to fully immerse yourself in the African smells and sounds, as well as appreciate the nature surrounding you. This is a wildlife experience dreams are made of.
In the mornings, at first light, you set off after a snack breakfast of rusks and coffee or tea. Enjoying the cool morning air you may walk directly from camp or else use a vehicle to get further out. Your ranger will decipher the tracks and signs left by the passing animals during the night. The thrill of walking, tracking and getting up close to one of the creatures of the bush is an unforgettable experience.
On the walks you watch for all the signs of life, all the interesting things seen such as trees, plants, insects and birds. A big breakfast is prepared back in camp and then there is time to relax next to the pool and siesta during the heat of the day. After lunch is served it is time to head out again.
The afternoon activity is a walk/drive combination, looking for tracks and activity in other areas. After the walk you drive to some of the beautiful spots in the reserve where sun-downers will be served whilst you observe the stunning African sunset. As the diurnal animals and birds get ready for nightfall and hunting time, the stage and sounds change and a whole new world awakens. With a spotlight the night drive begins as you slowly make your way back to camp, looking for the nocturnal creatures such as bushbabies, civet cats, servel and porcupines. Keep a look-out for the very shy ant bears and with a bit of luck you may stumble across a leopard as it sets off to hunt. This is wildlife very rarely seen during the day.
Back in camp a hearty supper and a warm campfire welcomes you. After a long day in the bush there is nothing more rewarding than sneaking off to bed and listening to the sounds of the night under a blanket of the overwhelming African stars!
On the last day you will still go out for one last walk. Sniffing the typical scents of the bush you’ll realize how much you’ve learned! After breakfast it’s time to pack up and say your final goodbyes.
